Who We Are
Our Story
Thrive Online Academy began with a simple but powerful belief held by our founder, Hannah Thomas: that students everywhere deserve access to high-quality, Christian education. Before Thrive existed, Hannah supported students through her Christian tutoring company, Family Focused Tutors.
The company supports struggling learners and homeschool families by providing personalized tutoring. Through countless conversations with parents, she began to see a deeper need—families weren’t just looking for tutoring. They were longing for a fully online Christian school they could trust. Driven by that vision, Hannah imagined a place where faith, personalized learning, and meaningful connection could come together.
She wanted students to receive one-on-one instruction from dedicated Christian teachers, while still experiencing the community and engagement that help children grow. While many online schools focus only on academics, Hannah believed students deserve more—a space where they can learn, socialize, and thrive spiritually.
That belief led to the creation of Thrive Online Academy. One of the earliest ideas was to build opportunities for real peer connection. Students in online settings often crave friendship and interaction, so clubs were designed as a natural way to bring students together around shared interests. This blend of individualized instruction and vibrant community quickly became one of Thrive’s defining strengths. To support families’ lifestyles and rhythms, Thrive adopted a four-day school schedule. This gives families room for field trips, travel, hands-on learning, and the freedom to enjoy more time together. With adaptive learning options and reduced screen time, students can focus on what matters most—growing academically, socially, and spiritually.
Today, Thrive Online Academy serves students across the United States, and our vision continues to expand. We are excited that we now have the opportunity to support families overseas who desire a quality U.S.-based Christian education while living and learning in their own unique contexts. Thrive began with a passion, grew through purpose, and continues with a mission: helping students flourish—grounded in excellence and rooted in faith.
Our philosophy and methodology
Our Philosophy of Education
At Thrive Online Academy, we believe true education integrates both academic understanding and spiritual growth. We view every student as uniquely designed by God, created with purpose, potential, and the capacity to learn in ways that reflect their individual strengths. Our commitment is to nurture the whole child—mind, heart, and spirit—so that students grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually under the guidance of Christian teachers who model Christlike character.
We approach education as a partnership between families, teachers, and students. Learning is not limited to memorizing facts; it is a journey of curiosity, critical thinking, and faith formation. We strive to equip students to apply biblical truth to every area of life, helping them develop discernment, resilience, and a strong moral foundation.
Our Methodology: Engaging, Personalized Online Learning
Through this holistic approach, Thrive Online Academy provides more than an online education—we cultivate a Christ-centered environment where students can grow, achieve, and thrive with excellence and rooted faith.

Statement of faith
- At Thrive Online Academy, we believe that the Word of God is the center of our faith so we teach through a Christian worldview. We use these truths to guide our instruction as we provide a quality Christian education to students.
- The Bible – We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error, and the ultimate authority for faith and life.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21) - God – We believe in one true God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 14:16-17) - Jesus Christ – We believe that Jesus is both fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose again, and will return in glory.
(John 1:1-3; Philippians 2:5-11; Acts 1:11) - The Holy Spirit – We believe the Holy Spirit indwells believers, empowering them for godly living and service.
(John 14:26; Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 8:9-11) - Creation – We believe that God created all things for His glory, and humanity in His image to reflect His nature.
(Genesis 1:27, 31; Colossians 1:16-17) - Sin and Salvation – We believe all people are born into sin and can be saved only by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
(Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16) - The Church – We believe the church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers united to serve, worship, and share the gospel.
(Ephesians 4:4-6; Acts 2:42-47) - Christian Living – We believe believers are called to live holy and loving lives as a reflection of God’s transforming power.
(Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 5:1-2) - Marriage and Family – We believe God designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman and established family as the foundation of society.
(Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:25-33) - Human Life – We believe every human life is sacred, created in God’s image, and worthy of protection and care.
(Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5)
- The Bible – We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error, and the ultimate authority for faith and life.
